It'll be their own doing if it all falls apart I guess. Me, I'm going to grab as much as I can for self preservation sake and find a bunker to hind my family in.
What fascinates me about this is that Obama has been out there peddling this thing hard and yet has apparently had no hand at all in the drafting. He's left it up to Pelosi.
Either he is stunningly naive enough to think that having a few chats with the opposition is sufficient to gain their support or he is a surprisingly powerless President who cannot stand up to Pelosi.
I actually think it's a mixture of both. He really does believe that the problem is just the way we talk to each other and not a serious difference of opinion. I also think he was so busy campaigning for President while in the Senate that he has surprisingly little political capital in Congress.
If the Senate passes this without a single Republican vote, this will be one of the fastest burnouts of a President in recent history.
