Quotation of the Day

"Some writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first a patron, the last a punisher."

Thomas Paine, Common Sense

Replace 'society' with 'corporations' and you have a new millenium take on the same concept.

Except that corporations create wealth, which is something that government can never do.

Except I said rplace 'society' with 'Corpoarations', not 'government'....silly, and governments can create wealth, it's just sad that ours has spent it all on death.

Aha. I should have taken my pills this morning.

But governments still cannot create wealth.
