Gotta Say

Of all the candidates, the one whose speech pattern doesn't drive me crazy is Joe Biden.  I don't agree with everything he's saying in the debate and he's peddling some pretty specious arguments, but I can stand to listen him talk.  I honesty can't stand listening to the other three.

I have a weird soft spot for Biden. I don't think he should be VP (or, God forbid, President), but he's probably a pretty decent guy and he manages to talk in more than soundbites.  Sure, that leads him into some goofy monologues, but there is a weird charm to him.  Of all of them, he's the one I am sure would be the most fun to just get shitfaced drunk with at some dive bar.

Interesting... I thought they both did fairly well. I think Biden's girth of experience in front the cameras and Meet the Press tables were clearly evident. He's a smart guy, but he was most awkward when being grilled about his own campaign comments critical of Obama. Smart strategy to focus on that by the McCain camp.

I'd say that it was sucessful in getting people thinking about the next prez debate.

The problem with Biden is that his fluid style makes a lot of people miss some of the absolutely ridiculous statements he makes.

We spend more in 3 weeks in Iraq than we have in 7 years? Uh, no. Not even close. In fact, orders of magnitude from being right. How the fuck does he get away with shit like that???

He really needs to re-read the Constitution about the VP because it doesn't say what he said it does and it doesn't talk about the VP in the places he claims it does. Also, note to Joe, the Constitution doesn't say anything about marriage, so I have no idea why he referenced it in the gay marriage question.

And I can't even begin to fathom in what alternate universe Biden's comments about driving Hezbollah out with the French are true. This guy is supposed to be a foreign policy whiz, but he was just babbling nonsense a lot of the time. It seemed impressive because it kept flowing, but it was slightly bizarre lunacy when you thought about what he was saying.

That being said, I found Palin's speech pattern irritating. I should rephrase. When she was trying to toe the line for McCain and was just repeating his talking points, she was awful. When she let loose a little bit and talked about things she knows, she was much better. The folksy thing is cute for a while, but it gets stale quickly. At least it is genuine. On the other hand, she's going to need to develop a speaking style that is a lot more serious and polished if she wants to be taken seriously.

She also needs to SLOW DOWN when she talks. That's a rookie error and it makes her look nervous.

And, God help us, will we ever be free of the scourge of politicians who say "nukular"???? That one just makes me want to kill kittens.

Oops, that was 7 years in Afghanistan.
