To Quote Obama...

...this is not the Led Zeppelin I thought I knew.

I think we can agree that Page and John Paul Jones with Bonham's son and some replacement singer is not the same as "Led Zeppelin."  I'm kind of surprised because Led Zeppelin must surely go down as one of the best managed, if not THE best managed, bands of the 1970s.  They didn't get screwed by the record company.  They didn't stupidly sign away their publishing.  They didn't put out crappy filler albums or novelty singles that diluted their brand.  When Bonham died, the shut it down and managed their legacy with care.  (Unlike, say, The Who, a band whose stature was badly, badly tarnished by poor management and endless efforts to cash in on the back catalogue.)

So what the hell is Jimmy smoking?

Boston with new singer.

Journey with new singer.

Is getting a YouTube Robert Plant such a bad thing?

I have to say, that Journey singer is an amazing replacement. Too bad Journey is so bad that, to quote Dick Cavett, they'd have to reconvene the Nuremburg War Crimes Commission to judge their work properly.

I'd feel better about this if they didn't call them Led Zep.

BTW Misanthrope, as resident Who archivist, fill me in on the details of Keith Moon running over his personnel assistant/roadie if this did in fact happen.

I'm reading that Pam Des Barres book and she claims that in the middle of some crazy sex play that involved Moon wearing a nun's outfit, he stopped doing the deed and bagan crying about being a murderer for running his roadie over with his Bentley.

Did it happen?

Tony -

It did, in fact, happen in 1970. Moon ran over his bodyguard, Neil Boland, in the parking lot of a dance club next to a pub in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Boland was pinned beneath the car.

Dreadful stuff.

Does this mean that you don't have the obligatory copy of "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere: The Complete Chronicle of The Who, 1958-1978"????

D
