The Misanthrope has always loved the King James Bible for the beauty of its language. Tonight, many of us will hear one of the loveliest passages of all:
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Was this the version Linus quoted?
I don't remember which version he quotes, it may be a revised version. It's the same passage, though.
Yep, Linus recites the King James version - the same quote you have here.
The only difference I found between his version and this one is that Linus says "City of Bethlehem" instead of "City of David." Odd, no?
That is odd. I'd have a word with the fact checkers at the CB Christmas special, except that they are all dead.

Yes it was.
You can't really understand the New Testament unless you've seen the first movie, 'though.
I prefer to think of the Old Testament as the prequel.
